The Bahamas are a group of islands located in the Atlantic Ocean north and East of Cuba
or as a gentleman from the islands informed us they are a bunch of land surrounded by water.
Nassau is the capital and largest city of the islands and is located on New Providence Island at the North
end of the chain. With a total area of approximately 5,358 square miles or  13,939 square
kilometers their highest land point is Mount Alvernia with a height of 206 feet. The population is approximately
320,000 people who use the Bahamian dollar as their monetary unit. The chief language spoken in the
islands is English as spoken in the British Nations.  Both Roman Catholicism and Protestant
Churches exist on the Islands as their major religions. For the most part the islands are covered
with forests, however some of the land is used for the raising of vegetables and there are no major
mineral occurrences. Marine harvest include Turtles, Sponges, Pearls and other Aquatic life.
The major businesses of the area are in its resorts and other tourist related fields.

According to a message in the material from the Bahaman Government, "Although
the Islands of the Bahamas comprise the world's best fishing grounds, if you
try hard enough you can manage not to catch anything.".
